ISA Liwan Middle School (International Pathway) takes the MYP as the framework, the Cambridge as the pathway with Lingnan culture and multilingualism as the feature, taking the national compulsory education curriculum (Regarding Wenhua Curriculum) as the core, integrating the Singapore standards, holding the core concept of "learner-centered", to provide students in grades 6-8 with inquiry learning experience that guides them to think, design and act independently.
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world, preparing them for success in further study and in life. The MYP aims to develop active learners who have the spirit and ability to explore independently and think with a global perspective, so that they can see the world from multiple perspectives and pursue lives of purpose and meaning by means of their own effort.
The MYP curriculum framework comprises eight subject groups, providing a broad and balanced education for early adolescents. The MYP requires at least 50 hours of teaching time for each subject group, in each year of the programme. The programme empowers students to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.
